Alexa+
Tool : standalone product, used directly
Amazon's new generative Alexa, more conversational, included with Prime.
Gradually rolling out; wait for full availability in France before upgrading for this feature.
What it does, concretely
Managing a smart home, shopping lists, calendar or music by voice requires an assistant capable of understanding natural, chained requests. Alexa addresses this need by enabling voice control of a wide range of everyday devices and services.
In practice, Alexa is activated by a wake word on Echo devices or through the mobile app. It executes voice commands to control lights, thermostats, smart plugs, play music, answer questions, set reminders or track Amazon parcels.
Alexa is aimed at people who own Echo devices or want to centralise control of their smart home. Prime subscribers get additional features, especially with the new generative version Alexa+.
However, those who do not use the Amazon ecosystem, or who are looking for a fully available assistant in France with all advanced conversational capabilities, will need to wait, as the Alexa+ rollout is still gradual.
