What it does, concretely
Reading foreign-language content takes time and often requires switching between tabs or translation tools. Immersive Translate solves this by displaying the translation directly beneath each paragraph of the original page, without replacing the source text.
In practice, the extension captures the content of the web page, PDF, video, or image you are viewing, then sends it to whichever translation engine you have selected from more than twenty options: DeepL, ChatGPT, DeepSeek, Gemini, Google Translate, and others. The result is displayed in bilingual mode, side by side or paragraph by paragraph, according to your preferences.
The tool is aimed at students reading academic articles in English, researchers following scientific publications, professionals attending international meetings on Zoom or Google Meet, and content creators who want to access videos without subtitles in their language.
It will be less suitable for people who do not need to keep the original text in view, or for those looking for an offline document translation tool, since every text is sent to a third-party online service.
