Tavily Search
Tool : A precise action the AI can call · requires tavily-api
Web search and extraction designed for agents.
The simplest search engine for agents.
Security reflects where data goes, requested permissions and incidents on record at the verification date. It is not a guarantee of zero risk: check the deployment mode and the connections you enable.
What it does, concretely
AI agents need access to fresh web information, but classic search engines are not designed to be queried by code. Tavily Search solves this by exposing a search, extraction, crawling and mapping API built from the ground up to be consumed by automated agents.
Concretely, the tool offers four distinct endpoints: Search to run a query and get structured results, Extract to retrieve the content of a specific URL, Crawl to browse a site in depth following natural language instructions, and Map to list all pages of a domain. A fifth endpoint, Research, lets you hand a complex question to Tavily, which orchestrates multiple searches itself and returns a cited report.
Tavily targets developers building agents or automated processing pipelines: it integrates natively with LangChain and the MCP protocol, and SDKs are available in Python and JavaScript. Onboarding is quick thanks to an interactive playground and ready-to-use code examples.
Tavily is not a graphical search engine intended for general users. Without development skills, it is difficult to use directly.
What it offers

- ·Web page content extraction from a URL, with Markdown output.
- ·Recursive site crawling guided by natural language instructions, with depth and breadth controls.
- ·Domain mapping (Map) to list all accessible URLs according to selection criteria.
- ·Research endpoint to delegate a complex question: Tavily orchestrates multiple searches and produces a report with numbered citations.
- ·Native integration with LangChain and the MCP protocol for direct connection to agent frameworks.
- ·Official SDKs in Python and JavaScript, as well as cURL support for direct calls.
- ·Interactive playground to test endpoints without writing code.
