Context7
MCP : Standardises the connection between an AI application and systems that expose tools or data · requires tout client MCP
MCP server that injects up-to-date, version-specific library documentation into the agent's context.
The most installed MCP, and for good reason: it eliminates hallucinated APIs.
Security reflects where data goes, requested permissions and incidents on record at the verification date. It is not a guarantee of zero risk: check the deployment mode and the connections you enable.
What it does, concretely
Language models rely on training data that can be months or years out of date. As a result, they generate code based on outdated library versions, invent functions that do not exist, or miss recent API changes.
Context7 solves this by acting as an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server: when your coding agent needs documentation for a library, it queries Context7, which fetches up-to-date, version-specific documentation directly from the source and injects it into the conversation context. The agent then has the right information before generating code. Context7 also works in CLI mode with a skills system, without requiring an MCP server.
This tool is aimed at developers using coding agents such as Cursor, Claude Code, VS Code, or OpenCode, who want to reduce errors caused by hallucinated or outdated APIs. It is especially useful when working with fast-moving libraries.
Context7 is not suited for those who do not use an MCP-compatible coding agent or a Node.js CLI, nor for those who need an absolute guarantee on documentation accuracy, as content is community-contributed and not verified by the Context7 team.
