In practice, the user types a description (for example, "poster for a summer concert"), and the tool proposes several ready-to-use layouts generated by the DALL-E 3 AI. It is then possible to retouch the image, remove a background, erase an object, auto-crop, or resize the visual for different social media formats, all without leaving the interface.
The tool is aimed at people already using the Microsoft ecosystem: visuals created are directly accessible in PowerPoint, Word, and Microsoft Photos, without any intermediate download. It also suits content creators, small business owners, and individuals who need quick visuals for social media, invitations, or greeting cards.
However, Microsoft Designer is not suited to professional graphic designers who need advanced animation tools, brand management, or team collaboration features. Users who produce many visuals per month will quickly hit the AI credit ceiling of the free plan.
