What it does, concretely
Audio recordings often suffer from background noise, excessive reverb, clicks, hiss, or unwanted sounds captured in the field. iZotope RX allows you to correct these flaws after recording, avoiding costly re-takes or ADR sessions.
The software offers more than 50 specialized modules, including a visual spectrogram that lets you target and erase specific unwanted sounds such as dog barks, string squeaks, or sirens. A Repair Assistant automatically analyzes the audio file and suggests appropriate fixes, which the user can then fine-tune.
iZotope RX is aimed at post-production professionals working in film, television, and video games, as well as sound engineers, music producers, podcasters, and content creators who want clean, polished results.
However, the software is not designed for beginners looking for a simple one-click solution: the breadth of modules and the complexity of the interface require a learning curve. The high price of the Advanced version also makes it better suited to professional or semi-professional use.
