iZotope Neutron 5
Plugin : A set of capabilities installed into an AI application or a host · requires daw
Assisted mixing: instrument detection, suggested settings, imbalances corrected.
Ozone's mixing companion, same philosophy.
Security reflects where data goes, requested permissions and incidents on record at the verification date. It is not a guarantee of zero risk: check the deployment mode and the connections you enable.
What it does, concretely
Achieving a balanced, professional mix takes time and experience: level imbalances between tracks, frequency conflicts, and dynamics management can stall a project for hours. Neutron 5 offers an automated starting point through its AI-powered assistant, then lets the mixer refine every setting as needed.
The plugin works as an all-in-one suite integrated into your DAW: a mothership module brings together ten components (equalizer, compressor, clipper, gate, exciter, sculptor, transient shaper, unmask, density, and phase). The Mix Assistant analyzes your tracks, detects instruments, proposes a custom processing chain and reference instrument profiles, while macros allow quick adjustments across the board.
Neutron 5 is aimed at producers and sound engineers working in a DAW on Mac or Windows who want to save time without giving up manual control. Modules can be used individually or combined in the mothership depending on the need.
Users who do not work in a DAW, or who are looking for a mastering tool rather than a track mixing tool, will need to look elsewhere, such as Ozone for mastering.
What it offers
- ·AI Mix Assistant: analyzes your tracks, detects instruments, and proposes a custom processing chain as a starting point.
- ·Clipper module: multiband soft clipping with mid/side and transient/sustain channel modes to control peaks without losing headroom.
- ·Density module: upward compressor that boosts the quieter parts of a signal without affecting content above the threshold.
- ·Phase module: detects and corrects phase issues between tracks or within a single signal in seconds.
- ·Per-channel processing modes: each module can independently target transient or sustained content, and the mid/side stereo field.
- ·Delta buttons in every module: let you hear only the difference introduced by the processing for more informed mixing decisions.
- ·Ten component modules usable separately or combined in the mothership: equalizer, compressor, gate, exciter, sculptor, transient shaper, unmask, clipper, density, and phase.
- ·Reference instrument profiles and macro controls to quickly refine the mix after the assistant's analysis.
