GPT-6 Sol
A good performance / EU-hosting balance for a European company.
Overview
GPT-6 Sol was released on 22 September 2026 together with GPT-6 Luna, below GPT-6 Astra, which remains the family's most capable model. OpenAI aims it at demanding coding and agent work, and reports roughly half as many factual errors as GPT-5.6 Sol on its internal evaluation. Its main argument is price: $2 per million input tokens and $10 output, half of GPT-5.6 Sol's promotional rate, and OpenAI says these prices are permanent. It takes text and images as input, with a 1.05-million-token context and 128,000 output tokens, and has access to the Responses API tools: web search, file search, code execution, computer use and MCP connections. Like every OpenAI model, it is only available through the API or OpenAI products, hosted outside the European Union by default. Past the long-context threshold, the whole request is billed at a higher rate: worth watching on agents that accumulate context.

Three independent measures
What people prefer, what the model can do, what the market uses. Each source has its biases and none is enough on its own: we show them side by side, never blended.
Strengths
- World-class on Arena
- Very long context
Who is it for
- your data must stay in the EU
Ideal use cases
- Coding agents and complex automations
- Very long document analysis
- Lower-cost replacement for GPT-5.6 Sol

Quality of this card’s data
This score measures the quality of the data on this card: price, context, Elo, licence, documented, sourced and fresh. It measures neither the model nor its compliance: for that, see the Trust Index above.
