It also performs real-time web searches drawing from diverse sources (news outlets, academic databases, forums) and systematically displays source links for every answer. Searches can also be launched directly from the browser's address bar.
The tool suits people who already use Perplexity as their main search engine and want it one click away while browsing, without switching tabs. It is also useful for quickly summarising a long article or asking follow-up questions about open content.
On the other hand, the extension adds little value for those unfamiliar with Perplexity or who are satisfied with a standard web search. Advanced features (premium AI models, file uploads, image generation) require a paid subscription.
