Consensus
Tool : standalone product, used directly
Answers grounded in peer-reviewed scientific literature.
To validate a claim against peer-reviewed science.
What it does, concretely
Finding a reliable answer to a scientific question takes time: you need to identify the right studies, read them, and cross-reference their conclusions. Consensus solves this by searching peer-reviewed literature before applying artificial intelligence, ensuring every response is grounded in real, citable sources.
In practice, you ask a question in natural language. Consensus searches a database of over 220 million peer-reviewed papers, identifies the most relevant ones, and generates a synthesized summary where every claim links back to its source paper. For yes/no questions, the Consensus Meter visually shows the percentage of studies that support or contradict the claim.
The tool is designed for students, researchers, healthcare professionals, and curious individuals who want to verify a claim or start a literature review without spending hours in academic databases. Over 10 million users, including members of more than 10,000 universities, already use it.
However, Consensus is not suited for questions requiring complex logical reasoning or primary data analysis: the tool synthesizes what the literature says, and does not replace a thorough critical reading of each study or the judgment of a domain expert.
