Windsurf plugin (Codeium)
Plugin : A set of capabilities installed into an AI application or a host · requires vscode
Unlimited free AI autocompletion and chat, inside classic editors.
The most generous free completion available.
Security reflects where data goes, requested permissions and incidents on record at the verification date. It is not a guarantee of zero risk: check the deployment mode and the connections you enable.
What it does, concretely
Writing code takes time, especially for repetitive sections or common functions rewritten from one project to the next. Windsurf Plugin installs directly in your existing editor to suggest code completions in real time, without changing your workflow.
The plugin analyses the context of your open file and proposes line-by-line or block-by-block completions that you accept with a single keystroke. A built-in chat also lets you ask questions about your code or request targeted changes without leaving the editor.
Windsurf Plugin is aimed at developers who want everyday AI assistance without a paid subscription, or who prefer to stay in VS Code or a JetBrains IDE rather than switching to a dedicated editor.
It is less suited to teams working on highly sensitive codebases, as the plugin reads the open code in the editor to generate its suggestions.
