Composio (connect-apps)

Plugin : A set of capabilities installed into an AI application or a host · requires claude-code

Gives the agent actions across 1,000+ applications (Gmail, Slack, Notion, GitHub…) via centralized authentication.

The fastest shortcut to connect an agent to the real world; each OAuth connection is an access point to monitor.

Security reflects where data goes, requested permissions and incidents on record at the verification date. It is not a guarantee of zero risk: check the deployment mode and the connections you enable.

What it does, concretely

Connecting an AI agent to real applications requires managing dozens of OAuth flows, access tokens, and different permissions for each service. Composio centralizes all of this authentication infrastructure and exposes more than 1,500 ready-to-use integrations, without the developer having to write a single authorization flow.

In practice, the agent receives a user session containing available tools, connections to accounts (Gmail, Slack, GitHub, Notion, Linear, Sentry, etc.) and an isolated sandbox environment for running code. Tool calls are made on demand, which avoids loading hundreds of definitions into the model's context all at once.

Composio is aimed at developers building AI agents with Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or any MCP client, who want to move quickly from prototype to an agent capable of acting within production applications. The SDK is available in TypeScript and Python, with adapters for OpenAI, Anthropic, LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, and others.

This is not a tool for non-technical users: you need to write code to create a session, configure tools, and launch an agent. People looking for a no-code interface to automate their applications will find better options elsewhere.

What it offers

  • ·Access to more than 1,500 app integrations (Gmail, Slack, GitHub, Notion, Linear, Sentry, etc.) through centralized authentication.
  • ·Full OAuth management for every connector: on-demand triggering, token refresh, and lifecycle management included.
  • ·Contextual user sessions: the agent retains sandbox state, files, and progress across multiple turns.
  • ·Isolated sandbox environment for running multi-step workflows as code, with results stored on a remote browsable filesystem.
  • ·Hosted MCP endpoint per session, compatible with Claude Code, Cursor, and any MCP client.
  • ·Adapters for major agent frameworks: OpenAI Agents, Claude Agent SDK, LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, Vercel AI SDK, Google GenAI, and others.
  • ·Granular access controls, SSO, and audit logs for organization-wide deployments. (paid)

How to install Composio (connect-apps)

1. Install the Composio CLI: curl -fsSL https://composio.dev/install | sh 2. Open a new terminal, then log in: composio login 3. Use composio link to connect an app account (Gmail, Slack, GitHub…) and review the requested permissions before accepting. 4. Install the SDK in your project: npm install @composio/core (TypeScript) or pip install composio (Python). 5. Create a session in your code, retrieve the tools, and pass them to your agent. 6. Security note: each connected account gives the agent the ability to act on your behalf; only connect the applications you strictly need.
curl -fsSL https://composio.dev/install | sh
