Highlighting, summarization, and AI search with sources.
Good for academic research and monitoring, less so for other uses.
Security reflects where data goes, requested permissions and incidents on record at the verification date. It is not a guarantee of zero risk: check the deployment mode and the connections you enable.
What it does, concretely
Reading and analyzing large amounts of online content takes time: long articles, YouTube videos, PDFs, and presentations pile up without any easy way to retain the essentials. Liner addresses this by combining highlighting, automatic summarization, and AI-powered search with cited sources, directly in the browser.
In practice, the extension activates on any webpage, YouTube video, or PDF document. Users can highlight text on the fly, request a one-click page summary, or ask questions via the AI Copilot displayed in a side panel. Answers come with references to the sources used. PDF, PowerPoint, and Word files can also be analyzed and summarized.
Liner is primarily aimed at students, researchers, and professionals who regularly process large volumes of documents. A Scholar mode restricts answers to academic sources only, and an AI agent can generate literature reviews or evaluate manuscripts. Citation generation in APA, MLA, or Chicago format is also available.
However, Liner is less suited to those looking for a simple note-taking tool without a subscription: the free plan limits the number of highlights per article and the number of daily AI interactions. Users who do not need the research dimension may find the interface cluttered and secondary features of little use.
