CSM (Cube)
App : A product you use directly
3D generation from image and text, game-oriented.
Alternative to Meshy, free for non-commercial use.
Security reflects where data goes, requested permissions and incidents on record at the verification date. It is not a guarantee of zero risk: check the deployment mode and the connections you enable.
What it does, concretely
Creating a quality 3D asset typically requires hours in specialized software such as Blender, Maya, or ZBrush. CSM (Cube), developed by Common Sense Machines, bypasses this step by generating a complete 3D mesh from a single image, a text prompt, or a sketch, directly in the browser.
In practice, the user provides their input (photo, text prompt, or sketch), the AI analyzes it and produces a 3D model with textures. The result can then be refined using built-in AI retopology and PBR retexturing tools, before exporting in a format compatible with Unity, Unreal Engine, or Blender.
The platform is designed for 3D creators of all skill levels, from beginners to professional artists at game studios, with no prior 3D software experience required. It also suits product designers and AR/VR content creators who need to prototype quickly.
However, CSM is less suited to complex mechanical objects or assets requiring perfect topology straight out of generation: for main characters or hero assets, manual cleanup is often still needed. The free plan limits generations and makes models publicly visible, making it unsuitable for confidential projects.
What it offers
- ·Image to 3D: converts a photo into a textured 3D mesh in seconds to a few minutes depending on the selected mode.
- ·Text to 3D: generates a 3D asset from a text description.
- ·Sketch to 3D: transforms a rough sketch into a 3D model.
- ·Image to Kit: generates modular, parts-based meshes for greater control and higher resolution.
- ·AI Retexturing: automatically applies PBR materials (base color, roughness, metallic) to any model. (paid)
- ·AI Retopology: optimizes mesh geometry with clean topology and readable UVs. (paid)
- ·Multi-format export: exports to FBX, OBJ, GLTF and other standard formats, compatible with Unity, Unreal Engine, and Blender.
- ·Dedicated servers and model privacy: Maker and Creative Pro plans offer fast dedicated servers and keep generations private. (paid)
