Blender MCP
MCP : Standardises the connection between an AI application and systems that expose tools or data · requires blender
MCP server that lets Claude or Cursor control Blender: scenes, objects, materials, rendering.
The most impressive bridge between an AI agent and 3D software.
Security reflects where data goes, requested permissions and incidents on record at the verification date. It is not a guarantee of zero risk: check the deployment mode and the connections you enable.
What it does, concretely
Creating or editing a 3D scene in Blender requires mastering a complex interface and many shortcuts. Blender MCP removes this barrier by letting an AI agent like Claude or Cursor control Blender directly through simple natural language instructions.
The system relies on two components: an add-on installed in Blender that opens a local socket server, and an MCP server that bridges the AI agent and that socket. The agent sends commands, the add-on executes them as Python code inside Blender, and the result appears in real time in the 3D viewport.
Blender MCP is aimed at 3D creators who want to speed up their workflow, developers exploring AI agents, and curious users who want to experiment with AI-assisted modeling without learning all of Blender. It works with Blender 3.0 or newer and Python 3.10 or newer.
It is not suited for those looking for a plug-and-play tool with no technical setup: installation requires the uv package manager, editing a JSON configuration file, and some comfort with the terminal. In addition, the agent runs arbitrary Python code inside Blender, so it should only be used in a trusted environment.
What it offers
- ·Create, modify, and delete 3D objects in Blender using natural language instructions.
- ·Apply and modify materials and colors on scene objects.
- ·Detailed inspection of the active Blender scene so the agent understands the existing context.
- ·Execute arbitrary Python code inside Blender, sent directly by the AI agent.
- ·Import assets from Poly Haven, Sketchfab, Poly Pizza, and generate 3D models via Hyper3D Rodin and Hunyuan3D.
- ·Optional safe mode that validates every script before execution and blocks risky operations while allowing normal Blender work.
- ·Compatible with multiple MCP clients: Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Codex, OpenCode, and Antigravity.
