BMAD Method

AI coding assistants are effective at writing code, but they often turn unstated assumptions into unwanted features. BMad Method addresses this by making important decisions explicit before touching the code, through an agile method built around specialized roles and reference documents.

In practice, the method revolves around a four-stage delivery loop: clarify the idea, plan, build and verify, then learn and adjust. Depending on the complexity of the change, you can go straight to implementation for a small modification, or go through a deeper planning phase for a more ambitious project. Product and technical decisions are recorded in documents that serve as durable context for all subsequent steps.

BMad Method is aimed at developers working on real projects, whether a weekend prototype or a system with years of history behind it. It works equally well for a new project or an existing codebase, thanks to a dedicated onboarding process.

However, for a simple one-off question or a minor change with no need for traceability, the method may feel oversized. It also requires Node.js, npm, Git, and uv (Python) to run, which assumes a development environment already in place.
