Security reflects where data goes, requested permissions and incidents on record at the verification date. It is not a guarantee of zero risk: check the deployment mode and the connections you enable.

What it does, concretely

Finding a reliable answer to a scientific question takes time: you need to identify the right studies, read them, and cross-reference their conclusions. Consensus solves this by searching peer-reviewed literature before applying artificial intelligence, ensuring every response is grounded in real, citable sources.

In practice, you ask a question in natural language. Consensus searches a database of over 220 million peer-reviewed papers, identifies the most relevant ones, and generates a synthesized summary where every claim links back to its source paper. For yes/no questions, the Consensus Meter visually shows the percentage of studies that support or contradict the claim.

The tool is designed for students, researchers, healthcare professionals, and curious individuals who want to verify a claim or start a literature review without spending hours in academic databases. Over 10 million users, including members of more than 10,000 universities, already use it.

However, Consensus is not suited for questions requiring complex logical reasoning or primary data analysis: the tool synthesizes what the literature says, and does not replace a thorough critical reading of each study or the judgment of a domain expert.

What it offers

  • ·Natural language search across a database of over 220 million peer-reviewed scientific papers, updated weekly.
  • ·Consensus Meter: for yes/no questions, visually displays the level of agreement or disagreement across studies.
  • ·Study Snapshot: automatically extracts key study attributes (population, sample size, duration, methods, results) in one click.
  • ·Deep Search: breaks your question into up to 20 parallel search strategies and reads 50 to 100 full-text papers to produce an in-depth synthesis (paid).
  • ·Scholar Agent: plans and chains multi-step searches with smart academic filters, built directly into Pro search (paid).
  • ·My Library: save papers into custom collections, chat with your collections, and export citations in CSV or RIS format.
  • ·Advanced filters: refine results by publication date, study type, journal quality (Q1), sample size, or clinical mode (human studies only).
  • ·LibKey integration: access paywalled articles through your university library subscriptions, available for partner institutions.
